_______________________________________________ Hot off the Press ______________________________________________ Food Collection Throughout the month of May, we took donations of non-perishable food items to be given to the 5 area families we have "adopted." It was a great privilege to be able to serve them, even in this non-holiday season. Thanks to everyone who contributed. New Church Sign! We finally have a new sign in front of the church building! Take a look at it when you drive by! It looks beautiful! Thanks to Chuck McGhee for organizing that project! Car Wash and Bake Sale This new event was a great success this year! We gave people in the community FREE car washes, and didn't take donations for the work we did! It was a great outreach activity that allowed us to get to know some people in the area and also just get our name out there! We hope to turn it into an annual event! Everyone was very appreciative! We're on Facebook! Katlyn has recently created a Facebook group for the church! It will be used to invite visitors to the church, announce get-togethers and other events, as well as to share prayer requests and announcements. This is a great way to get the word out about Fort Avenue Church of Christ! Everybody is invited to join the group and share! **UPDATE**: Steve Allen, Lee Cannon, Kerry Gateley, and Chuck McGhee have been selected for eldership in the Fort Avenue Church of Christ congregation! We know we will be blessed with the new leadership. We pray that it will be more effective and more organized. God has blessed us with qualified, godly men who are willing to take on this task. __________________________________________________________________________ In Other News: _______________________________________________ World Bible School Continues Each month, we continue to receive tests back from avid World Bible School students. And each month, we seem to get another dozen or so referrals. Many of our most devoted students have come from the area jail system. The inmates have been telling stories about the difference that Christ is making in their lives and the meaning that they are finding from the studies. We are thankful to be involved in people's lives in such a positive way. May God continue to change lives! Monthly Message Each month, we will be posting one of Lee's sermons on the site. The messages will often be printed in note form, not written like a story that you would read in the newspaper. With that disclaimer in mind, this month's featured message is, "The Narrow Way." Click here to read it! It's Better with Sound! To listen to sermons from Windows Media files, click on a sermon of your choice. (Updated 9/24/08)
